After an exciting week for American Truck Simulator with the arrival of Idaho, we are happy to announce the arrival of the 1.38 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2!
We'd like to thank all those who took part in the open beta and contributed with bug reports and general feedback. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the various new features which are included within this update. So, what can you expect to find in the 1.38 update ETS2? Lets us give you a quick recap of the most significant changes.
Rules Overview: Using external contracts with a World of Trucks-connected profile in Euro Truck Simulator 2, the community is to make deliveries of construction materials, fuel, equipment and waste either to or from two new temporary depots. Each depot requires 500,000 deliveries and can be found at either end of the new bridge construction site in Genoa, Italy.
When a player completes at least 12 deliveries, 6 to/from the East Depot and 6 to/from the West Depot, it will complete their personal goal.
The depots are owned by the Costruzione di Edifici company and are called:
- EAST bridge depot - CDE EST
- WEST bridge depot - CDE OVEST
Deliveries to be made: 1,000,000 deliveries have to be equally divided.
- 500,000 to/from EAST bridge depot - CDE EST
- 500,000 to/from WEST bridge depot - CDE OVEST
Cities offering cargo to the depots:
Note: Genoa City itself will accept waste cargo but will not offer cargo to the depots.
Personal goal: Individual player contributions of at least 6 deliveries to/from each depot will gain that player a personal World of Trucks Achievement and a terrific new ETS2 truck Terra Constructor paint job Steam inventory item.
Community goal: Once the community goal of 500,000 deliveries to/from each depot is met, and if the player has also achieved their personal goal then they will receive a hanging Plush Terra Road Roller Steam inventory item.
After much testing, feedback, fixing, and fine-tuning, we are excited to announce the arrival of update 1.37 for Euro Truck Simulator 2!
We'd like to thank every single one of you for all your help with your bug reports, opinions, and general feedback during the Open Beta. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the new features included within this update.
The main feature included with this update is the implementation of our new sound engine FMOD; which radically redefines the way we mix vehicle and environment sounds. This update includes revisited sounds of trucks' engines, new sounds for most of the AIs (including trains), reverb sound effects in tunnels, new train crossings sounds, the inclusion of a true Doppler effect for passing vehicles and more. This also brings an array of new sound options for users accessed from the main menu, which allows you to tweak many more individual sounds to your liking.
Virtual Truckers of the world, we are all enduring a difficult time, as the world fights against COVID-19. It's time for us to respond in the best way we can.
Heroic drivers and support crew around the world are currently delivering much-needed supplies and providing life-saving services. Their work keeps the world moving and is incredibly challenging and dangerous.
When reflecting on this we might ask the question, what can we do. The scientific advice is clear, the best thing we can do is to stay at home and keep physical interaction to a minimum. So, we are calling on you, our #BestCommunityEver, as a salute to these heroes, to unite and to #TruckAtHome. Let's stand alone together, keep the world safe, and let's participate in a World of Trucks community event!
As we were all busy with Pink Ribbon event, some of you may not have anticipated the approaching update. It brings some new treats, but the main reason is DirectX change and preparation for the Road to the Black Sea map expansion. Let's go through the list of Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.36 Open Beta together.
A word of warning first - avoid this Beta if you are planning on completing any more deliveries for the Pink Ribbon Event - it's not supported on 1.36 and you WON'T be able to go back to any older version of the game with a profile modified by the 1.36 version of the game. There are core changes, including a different save version, so back up the profiles that you want to keep (do a manual back up just to be sure) using on 1.35 or older versions.
A big focus of the update is on DirectX 11 (11.1 to be exact). We've decided to drop support for DirectX 9 for the sake of faster and easier development. So from Update 1.36 onwards, our games won't be compatible with systems running on DirectX 9.
